Every prop firm claims to be the biggest, the fastest growing, or the most trusted. Almost none of them publish the numbers that would prove it. Firms do not disclose accounts sold, and marketing claims are unverifiable, so we did the next best thing: we pulled the freshest public data available (Similarweb and Semrush snapshots from December 2025 through April 2026, retrieved July 13, 2026) and ranked the futures prop industry on website traffic, brand search volume, community size, and reported payout totals. Then we did the part nobody else does: we put those popularity numbers next to our daily-refreshed trader scores to see whether the firms getting the most attention are also the ones treating traders best right now.
Three findings up front: Topstep, not Apex, is the most visited futures prop firm in 2026. Apex is in a visible traffic decline since its March overhaul. And the industry's most popular firm currently holds one of the lower scores in our daily tracking. Popularity is a lagging indicator. Recent trader treatment is not.
How We Measured Popularity
A note on the data before the rankings, because honesty about sources is the whole point of this report.
- Website traffic comes from public Similarweb and Semrush pages, using the most recent snapshot each tool publishes for free (March or April 2026 for the majors, December 2025 where that is the freshest public figure). These tools model traffic from panels and clickstream data; they are directionally reliable but not exact, and they disagree with each other, so we cite the figure, the tool, and the month every time.
- Brand search volume is the number of times people type a firm's name into Google each month, from public keyword databases. It is the cleanest proxy for mindshare, because nobody searches a brand they have never heard of.
- Reported payout totals come from the firms themselves. They are credibility signals, not audited figures, and we label them as reported throughout.
- Accounts sold is the number everyone wants and nobody publishes. Any site claiming to rank firms by accounts sold is guessing. Traffic, search, community size, and payouts are the closest public proxies, which is why this report uses all four.
One nuance that matters for reading the traffic numbers: prop firm websites are not just brochures. Funded traders log in constantly to check dashboards and request payouts, and the 2026 engagement data proves it. Topstep and Apex both show bounce rates around 27 percent, roughly 8 pages per visit, five-plus minute sessions, and direct traffic shares of 70 and 65 percent respectively. That is the signature of active customers working a product, not shoppers clicking an ad, which makes traffic a better proxy for real customer base than it first appears.
The Rankings at a Glance
| Firm | Est. Monthly Visits (source, month) | US Brand Searches / Month | Reported Lifetime Payouts | Trader Score (Jul 13) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Topstep | 6.5M (Similarweb, Mar 2026); platform domain topstepx.com ranks top-100 US Investing separately | ~201K US, 421K global | $1B+ (reported) | 6.9 |
| Apex Trader Funding | 4.1M (Similarweb, Apr 2026), down 32% from ~6M in March | ~15K brand cluster (public keyword data; likely undercounts) | $700M+ (reported, early 2026 figures) | 8.5 |
| Tradeify | ~1.29M (Semrush, Dec 2025); #218 US Investing on Similarweb, Apr 2026 | ~165K US (public keyword data) | Not published | 9.0 |
| My Funded Futures | 1.21M (Semrush, Apr 2026) | No large published cluster | ~$180M (reported, unconfirmed) | 10.0 |
| Take Profit Trader | No fresh public visit count; #109 to #115 US Investing on Similarweb, 2026 | Not published at scale | Not published | 7.8 |
| FundedNext (whole brand) | ~6.33M (Semrush, Dec 2025); includes the much larger forex business | Large but forex-dominated | Not broken out for futures | 9.6 (futures) |
Smaller tracked firms (Trade Day, Earn2Trade, Lucid Trading, Bulenox, and others) do not have reliable fresh public traffic estimates, which is itself a data point: the futures prop industry's attention is heavily concentrated in the top five or six names.
What the 2026 Data Actually Says
1. Topstep is the most visited and most searched futures prop firm
As of March 2026, Similarweb estimates topstep.com at 6.5 million monthly visits, ranking it #29 among all US investing websites, in the neighborhood of household names like T. Rowe Price. And that understates the ecosystem: Topstep's trading platform lives on a separate domain, topstepx.com, which independently ranks in the US Investing top 100. On brand search, the gap is even wider: roughly 201,000 US searches per month and over 420,000 globally, several times any other futures firm. Add the industry's largest reported payout total, over $1 billion since 2012, and Topstep is the most popular futures prop firm in the world by essentially every public measure.
Which makes the next number the most important one in this report: the industry's most popular firm currently holds a 6.9 in our daily tracking, one of the lower scores among the majors, driven by a recent cluster of KYC disputes and account-closure complaints in trader reviews. Fourteen years of reputation and a billion reported dollars describe the past. The recent reviews describe the present. When those two diverge, we think traders deserve to see it. 2. Apex is huge, and shrinking
Apex Trader Funding drew an estimated 4.1 million visits in April 2026, comfortably the industry's number two, with the strongest engagement profile in the dataset (8.25 pages per visit, 5:52 average session, 27 percent bounce). But the trend line is the story: April was down 32 percent from roughly 6 million in March, and Similarweb shows Apex's global rank slipping from about 6,500 to 9,500 over three months. The timing is hard to ignore. Apex launched its controversial 4.0 overhaul on March 1, 2026, eliminating subscriptions and resets, banning overnight trading, and capping lifetime payouts per account, and public traffic data cannot prove causation, but the decline began in the same window. Apex reports several hundred million in lifetime payouts, with early-2026 third-party write-ups citing figures above $700 million. Our current trader score sits at 8.5, with recent reviews split between smooth fast payouts and verification complaints. Full Apex review →
This is the industry's live experiment: whether a firm can restructure its economics that aggressively without paying for it in customers. Our daily score will show the answer faster than any quarterly traffic snapshot.
3. The 2023 generation has already reached the majors
Tradeify and My Funded Futures both launched around 2023 and both now sit above the one-million-visit line: roughly 1.29 million for Tradeify (Semrush, December 2025) and 1.21 million for MFFU (Semrush, April 2026). Tradeify has also built one of the largest brand-search footprints in the industry at around 165,000 US monthly searches, remarkable for a three-year-old company. MFFU's traffic profile is the purest active-user signature in the dataset: an eight-minute average session with roughly three-quarters of visits arriving direct, and public reporting puts its community above 100,000 traders with a Discord over 70,000 strong. It also currently holds the highest score in our tracking, a 10.0, on the strength of recent payout and support reviews. Full MFFU review → Full Tradeify review →
In most industries, catching a 12-year incumbent takes a decade. In futures prop, two firms did it in three years, which tells you how little loyalty legacy commands when traders judge firms on their latest payout.
4. The FundedNext asterisk
FundedNext's domain shows the biggest single Semrush number in our table at an estimated 6.33 million monthly visits (December 2025), but it needs the asterisk: that is the whole brand, dominated by its much older and larger forex business, with its heaviest audience in South Asia. The futures program is newer and not broken out in any public data. We include it for completeness and to make a methodological point: whole-brand traffic is not futures popularity, and any ranking that treats them as the same is misleading you. 5. Popularity and quality are different measurements
Put the columns side by side and the lesson writes itself. The firm with the most visits and searches scores 6.9 on recent reviews. The firm with the highest recent-review score has a fraction of the traffic and almost no brand search volume. The number two firm by traffic is shedding a third of its visits in a month. Popularity metrics move slowly, because they are built from years of marketing, affiliates, and accumulated mindshare. Trader treatment can change in a quarter, in either direction. That is precisely why our trader scores are computed only from each firm's most recent reviews and refresh every day: popularity tells you where the crowd went, the current score tells you what the crowd found when it got there.
Popularity FAQ
What is the most visited futures prop firm website in 2026?
Topstep. Similarweb estimated topstep.com at 6.5 million visits in March 2026, ahead of Apex Trader Funding at 4.1 million in April 2026. Topstep's separate platform domain, topstepx.com, ranks in the US Investing top 100 on its own, making the combined Topstep footprint the largest in futures prop.
What is the most searched futures prop firm?
Topstep, by a wide margin: roughly 200,000 US brand searches per month and over 400,000 globally in public keyword data.
Which futures prop firm has paid out the most money?
Topstep reports more than $1 billion paid to traders since 2012. Apex reports several hundred million since 2021, with early-2026 third-party write-ups citing figures above $700 million. My Funded Futures has reported figures around $180 million since late 2023. All totals are self-reported rather than independently audited.
Is Apex Trader Funding losing traffic in 2026?
Public Similarweb data shows apextraderfunding.com fell about 32 percent month over month to 4.1 million visits in April 2026, with its global rank slipping from roughly 6,500 to 9,500 over three months. The decline follows the firm's controversial March 2026 overhaul, though public data cannot prove the cause.
How many accounts do prop firms sell?
Nobody knows, because firms do not publish accounts-sold figures. Traffic, brand search, community size, and reported payouts are the closest public proxies, which is what this report uses.
Is the most popular prop firm also the best one?
Not right now. At the time of writing, the most visited and most searched firm in the industry held one of the lower current trader scores in our daily tracking, while newer firms with a fraction of the search volume scored far higher on recent reviews. Check the current score on the day you buy.
Methodology and Sources
Traffic figures are public Similarweb and Semrush estimates retrieved on July 13, 2026, using each tool's most recent free snapshot: Similarweb March 2026 for topstep.com (6.5M visits, #29 US Investing) and April 2026 for apextraderfunding.com (4.1M visits, #59 US Investing); Semrush April 2026 for myfundedfutures.com (1.21M) and December 2025 for tradeify.co (1.29M) and fundednext.com (6.33M). Category ranks and engagement metrics (bounce rate, pages per visit, session duration, direct-traffic share) come from the same pages. Brand search volumes come from public keyword databases and are US monthly figures unless noted. Payout totals are the firms' own reported numbers and are labeled as reported. Trader scores are our own daily metric, computed from each firm's most recent public reviews; the scores shown were current on July 13, 2026 and will have changed since, which is the point. We hold no position in any firm listed, and rankings cannot be bought. We will refresh this report as new public snapshots appear.
Trader scores are generated from each firm's most recent public reviews, aggregated and summarized by our scoring system, and refresh daily. They do not represent our endorsement or criticism of any firm. Educational content only, never personalized financial advice. Prop trading involves risk of losing evaluation fees; most participants do not reach a payout.
