Apex Trader Funding Rules Explained

EOD Drawdown

Apex EOD Drawdown accounts calculate the drawdown once per trading day at market close. The threshold is then enforced during the following trading session. This gives traders more room than an intraday trailing model because open intraday profits do not instantly raise the drawdown level.

Daily Loss Limit

EOD evaluations include a fixed Daily Loss Limit of $500, $1,000, $1,500, or $2,000 depending on account size. Hitting the Daily Loss Limit pauses trading for the rest of the session but does not fail the evaluation. Intraday Trailing evaluations do not have a Daily Loss Limit during the evaluation stage.

Consistency Rule

Apex does not apply a consistency rule during the EOD or Intraday evaluation stage. Performance Accounts apply a 50% consistency rule, meaning no single profitable day may account for 50% or more of the total profit since the last approved payout.

Max Contracts

Evaluation max contracts are 4, 6, 8, and 12 minis across the $25K, $50K, $100K, and $150K accounts. Micro contracts count at a 10:1 ratio, so those limits equal 40, 60, 80, and 120 micros. Performance Accounts use tier-based scaling, so traders start lower and scale up as the account grows.

News Trading

Apex's current EOD and Intraday evaluation rules focus on drawdown, Daily Loss Limit, hedging, prohibited activity, and account conduct. Traders may trade during normal futures market conditions, but all positions and strategies must follow Apex's risk and conduct rules.

Payout Rules

Apex Performance Accounts offer up to weekly payout eligibility with a 100% payout split on approved simulated payouts. Each PA must complete at least 5 qualifying trading days before a payout request. The minimum payout amount is $500.

EOD Performance Accounts require minimum daily profits of $100, $250, $300, and $350 for the $25K, $50K, $100K, and $150K accounts. Intraday Performance Accounts require minimum daily profits of $100, $200, $250, and $300. A 50% consistency rule applies to PA payout eligibility.

Each Performance Account can receive up to 6 approved payouts. EOD payout caps range from $1,000 to $5,000 depending on account size and payout number. Intraday payout caps also scale by account size and payout number, with the largest listed cap reaching $5,000 on the sixth $150K Intraday PA payout.

PA activation fees depend on account type and whether the no-activation-fee version was selected. Apex's refund policy states that purchases, optional add-ons, PA activation fees, data fees, and incorrect plan selections are generally non-refundable.

Final Verdict

Apex Trader Funding remains one of the biggest names in futures prop trading, and its current account structure is much cleaner than the older legacy setup. The new EOD and Intraday evaluation paths give traders a clear choice between end-of-day drawdown and real-time intraday trailing drawdown, with no evaluation consistency rule, one-time evaluation pricing, and the ability to pass in as little as one trading day.

The main thing to understand before buying is that the evaluation stage is only half the rule set. Performance Accounts add 50% consistency, tier-based scaling, payout caps, safety-net requirements, and a 6-payout cycle. For traders who understand those PA rules and choose the right drawdown model, Apex Trader Funding is still one of the most competitive futures prop firms to compare.
